The Year to Volunteer: Reflections on National Volunteering Week

As this year marks a pivotal moment in the movement of volunteers across our country, and across our world, we often do not take the time to pause and reflect on the tireless efforts and contributions that sometimes disappear in the day-to-day running of an organisation.

We at SolveSquad have always maintained our commitment to volunteers, having run as a 100% volunteer base, including our core team, event volunteers and external operations. But it is the willingness and wherewithal of each of our volunteers that impresses me the most.

Volunteers such as Rohan, who willingly and without hesitation contributed his time and skills to assisting with partner events, digital campaigns, promotional engagement for annual gatherings and collaborations, and always showing up and being available.

Partnering with Volunteering Australia has also led us to connecting with various other volunteer-led initiatives and organisations as well, including our recent collaboration with WRNA (We Are Not Alone), and others in the sector. Highlighting our work with community, and connecting with other social enterprises has also seen us push the boundaries of what is possible, and into recognising the potential that is already in front of us.

And, of course, we are not done yet.

We hope to continue to forge the way forward, beyond just celebrating our wins, but also looking to what is possible ahead, through partnership, persistence and perseverance, we will seek out the next step beyond, with the help of our volunteers, one person at a time.
